Robbie Cook, Instructor

Robbie Cook began studying Pilates in 1995 in Chicago to supplement his dancing, and after finding it so useful, he wanted to share his love of the form with others, earning his certification in 1998. Since beginning to teach in Chicago, he followed his dance career and Pilates teaching practice to New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

His passion for learning and a daily personal practice inform his pedagogy, he enjoys teaching a range of ages, physical abilities and has had the privilege to teach in different cultures around the world on tour as a dance and teaching artist. To further inform and expand his teaching, he certified in Vinyasa Yoga in 2010, teaching yoga for dancers at both Bates and American Dance Festivals, and recently earned a Personal Training Certification through NASM in 2025.

After earning an MFA in Dance from Bennington College, he taught both Pilates and dance at Loyola Marymount University, Idyllwild Arts Academy, and most recently at Hofstra University, where he was a tenured professor from 2016-2025;  he also taught Pilates and fitness at Mark Morris Dance Wellness Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Robbie is married to a Rhode Island native, whose recent job at Ballet RI has led them and their beagle, Bowie, back to the Ocean State. While not working his powerhouse, he enjoys long nature walks with his dog, a beach day at Little Compton, and has developed a taste for stuffies and coffeemilk. He is excited to join the team at PPC and looks forward to working with everyone!
